At Clifton Australia, we love seeing our umbrellas become part of something bigger than simply keeping people dry - and in 2026, we were delighted to support Free The Hounds and their fundraising efforts for greyhound welfare in Western Australia.
Earlier this year, the team at Free The Hounds reached out to us about their upcoming Nanna Bingo fundraiser, asking whether we would be able to contribute a prize for the event.
Of course, we were very happy to help!
Supporting Free The Hounds
Free The Hounds is a volunteer-run greyhound welfare advocacy group based in Western Australia. The organisation works to raise awareness about greyhound racing and advocate for improved welfare and an end to commercial greyhound racing.
Their work involves community education, advocacy, government lobbying, transparency around the racing industry and supporting welfare reforms for greyhounds.
For their 2026 fundraising event, the team were preparing for an evening of Nanna Bingo, with bingo, raffles, silent auction prizes and plenty of fun along the way.
We were pleased to donate a Clifton UPF50+ Dog Paws Print Mini Maxi Umbrella as one of the prizes for the evening.
With its playful paw-print design, it seemed like a particularly fitting little contribution to an event raising money to support greyhound welfare! 🐾
What is Nanna Bingo?
If you've never experienced Nanna Bingo before, you're probably wondering what exactly happens at one of these events.
Let's just say it's a little different from your average game of bingo!
Nanna Bingo is an award-winning comedy night, game show and disco, combining bingo with plenty of laughs, entertainment and audience participation.
For the Free The Hounds fundraiser, guests were encouraged to embrace the theme, dress up in their finest elderly-inspired outfits and even compete for prizes for the best dressed Nannas and Pops.
Doors opened at 6pm, with bingo getting underway at 7pm.
There were also raffles, silent auction items and a live auction during the evening, helping raise much-needed funds for the work of Free The Hounds.
A Night Full of Laughs and Community Spirit
Following the event, Free The Hounds shared an update with us about how the evening went - and it sounded like an absolute success.
The team described a night filled with laughs, fantastic prizes, good company and incredible support for their cause.
They also gave a special thank you to Nanna Bingo for putting on the event.
And, naturally, they couldn't resist mentioning that Nanna herself provided plenty of fun and cheeky entertainment!
It was wonderful to see the atmosphere of the evening and the community coming together to support Free The Hounds.
Where the Fundraising Goes
The funds raised through events such as Nanna Bingo help Free The Hounds continue their advocacy and welfare work.
According to the organisation, funds raised support activities including merchandise, advertising and billboards, their podcast, Freedom of Information requests, and legal and strategic expertise to help maintain pressure on decision-makers and hold government and regulatory bodies accountable.
For a volunteer-run organisation, fundraising events like this provide an important opportunity to bring supporters together while helping fund the ongoing work behind the scenes.
We're Proud to Have Played a Small Part
At Clifton Australia, we're always pleased to support community organisations and fundraising events where we can.
While one umbrella might seem like a small contribution, we know that fundraising is built from many individual contributions coming together - prizes, donations, ticket sales, raffles, auctions and, most importantly, people willing to give their time and energy to a cause they believe in.
We were particularly happy that our Clifton UPF50+ Dog Paws Print Mini Maxi Umbrella could be included in an event dedicated to supporting greyhound welfare.
And after hearing how successful the evening was, we were even happier to know that it helped contribute towards Free The Hounds' ongoing work.
Looking Towards a Future Where Greyhounds Are Free
Free The Hounds has been advocating for greyhound welfare in Western Australia since 2015, with the ultimate goal of seeing an end to commercial greyhound racing.
Their work is driven by a desire to see greyhounds recognised as companions rather than commodities and to encourage meaningful welfare reform.
We were grateful to be able to support their 2026 fundraiser and wish the entire Free The Hounds team continued success with their advocacy.
And, as we said to the team after the event, we're keeping our fingers crossed that one day in the not-too-distant future, we'll be able to say they have "FREED THE HOUNDS " 💛
