Royal Arrival: Princess Ingrid Alexandra to Study in Sydney — And Her Style Is Already Turning Heads

🇳🇴👑 A Regal Journey from Oslo to the University of Sydney

In a move that has delighted royal watchers and Australians alike, Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway—heir presumptive and second in line to the Norwegian throne—has confirmed she will begin full-time studies in Australia from August 2025.

At just 21 years old, the Princess will enrol in a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Sydney, residing on campus while focusing her studies on international relations and political economy (Sciberras, 2025 and Sky News Australia, 2025). The Royal Court of Norway formally announced the plans, noting her excitement about “dedicating herself to her studies in the years to come” (The Royal House of Norway, 2021).

Following the completion of 15 months of military service with the Engineer Battalion of Brigade North, this academic chapter represents a new kind of duty—one of diplomacy, independence, and intellectual ambition.

🌏 Royals Down Under: A Growing Trend

Princess Ingrid isn’t the first royal to embrace Australian academia. In 2023, Count Nikolai of Denmark, nephew of King Frederik X, spent a semester at the University of Technology Sydney, accompanied by his partner Benedikte Thoustrup (Sciberras, 2025). The royal tradition of studying abroad, particularly in Australia, underscores the country’s growing appeal as a destination of both prestige and quality education.

☂️ Regal in the Rain: A Style Nod to the BJ-BJUMP-BLK Umbrella

Royal watchers may recall Princess Ingrid Alexandra’s poised appearance during Norway’s Constitution Day celebrations on 17 May 2021. As the royal family emerged on the balcony at 11:30 AM and the national anthem rang across Palace Square, Princess Ingrid was seen holding a classic black umbrella—sleek, structured, and deeply elegant (The Royal House of Norway, 2021).

That umbrella closely resembles La Bella Wedding Umbrellas’ BJ-BJUMP-BLK model—our signature black pongee auto-open umbrella with refined detailing, wind-resistant features, and timeless silhouette. It's a style fit for royalty and the everyday woman alike, balancing function with form.

This subtle fashion moment speaks volumes. Royals often communicate values through wardrobe choices—elegance, preparedness, and composure amid unpredictability. It’s no surprise that Princess Ingrid’s umbrella echoed these exact traits.

🎓 Poised for a Diplomatic Future

As a member of the House of GlĂźcksburg, Princess Ingrid Alexandra represents the next generation of monarchs with global perspectives and hands-on experience. Her academic focus on international relations and political economy suggests a future of engagement in matters of state, governance, and diplomacy (Sky News Australia, 2025 and Royal Correspondent, 2025).

She will temporarily step back from royal duties while abroad—a move that shows both maturity and commitment to personal development. While Sydney becomes her classroom, the world will be watching with interest.
